Pakistani actor Shaan Shahid has a message for Shah Rukh Khan: Go to Pakistan and make a film there. He also urged the Bollywood star to become an ambassador for art without boundaries.

Happy New Year is what — Oceans 12? Let’s be honest. They have to realise that they don’t have any scripts anymore, whatever scripts they have — it starts to become an art film,” said Shahid in an interview with tabloid! on Monday.

The actor is in Abu Dhabi this week for International Showbiz Expo, a series of discussions held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) with industry experts such as Cheryl Boone Isaacs, president of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) and Hollywood producer Edward R. Pressman.

The Waar actor will speak about the growth of Pakistani cinema and the potential for production opportunities. He’s also expected to walk the red carpet on the opening night of the Abu Dhabi Film Festival on Thursday.

“We actors don’t have to win votes, so we don’t have to belittle each other. Actors can still be friends. We can still make good films and go beyond boundaries. That will only happen if major stakeholders like Shah Rukh or Aamir will shoot a film in Pakistan,” said Shahid, who has acted in more than 500 films. He famously declined a villain’s role in Bollywood blockbuster Ghajini, starring Aamir Khan, as it fed into the stereotype attached to the token Pakistani villain in an Indian film.
