Lokayukta issues ultimatum
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Lokayukta on Monday gave the ultimatum to deputy collector (land acquisition), Thiruvananthapuram, for appearing personally before the bench on October 27.
The division bench comprising Pius C Kuriakose and K P Balachandran ordered Thiruvananthapuram city police commissioner to ensure the presence of the official on the stipulated date.
The official, despite an earlier directive from the bench in connection with the Pattoor land case to appear before the bench on Monday, failed to comply with the order.
The bench also asked the deputy collector (LA) to produce all the relevant documents in connection with Pattoor land by 5 pm on Tuesday. The Lokayukta had earlier summoned officials of survey, Kerala Water Authority, and revenue for personal appearance before the court on October 20. All officials barring the deputy collector (LA), superintendent of survey department, engineer of Kerala Water Authority and Vanchiyoor village officer appeared before the bench on Monday.
The construction of a multistorey building at Pattoor by Avruthi Mall has been in the eye of a storm following a complaint by the Kerala Water Authority that the builder had encroached on 16.5 cents of puramboke (revenue) land through which pipeline had been laid.
