Lufthansa LongHaul Pilots Join Strike


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Frankfurt October 20 (QNA) - Long-haul pilots of German Airline Lufthansa said Monday they will join a strike started by their short and medium-haul colleagues who are objecting changes to their retirement plans.



Pilots who are negotiating that the company maintains its current retirement benefits system. The current system allow pilots to retire at 55 while receiving part of their wage. However board of Lufthansa said they were considering scraping that benefit due to the financial difficulties facing the company. German news agency (DPA) reported today that the cockpit union said today that the long-haul pilots would start their strike Tuesday morning to noon.



The short and medium-term haul pilots have held a series of strikes. The last one was on Tuesday when the strike lead to the cancellation of 4300 flights. (QNA)
