Carlisle United 3-4 Burton Albion

Damien McCrory
Damien McCrory opened the scoring after coming on as a third-minute substitute

Burton Albion edged out Carlisle in a seven-goal thriller at Brunton Park.

Damien McCrory opened the scoring with a stunning strike from 30 yards, but Carlisle levelled when Kyle Dempsey found the net with a backheel.

Lee Bell restored Burton's lead from 25 yards and Jacob Blyth and Alex MacDonald extended the advantage before Brad Potts pulled one back.

Derek Asamoah scored on his Carlisle debut to make it 4-3 but Burton held on despite Stuart Beavon's late red card.

Burton manager Gary Rowett told BBC Radio Derby:

"That was a massive win for us, just because it was after Saturday's disappointment. It shows the fine margins in these games because I felt we hadn't played horrendously badly on Saturday for 60 minutes, but then we conceded two stupid goals.

"Today you can look at it from the other side and say we were really clinical in the first half. We lost George Taft early on so we had to bring Damien McCrory on and I told him was close to have being started anyway.

"He scored with probably his first touch of the ball, which when you've been out for six months, it would probably be a very memorable first touch in his comeback game, so I'm really pleased for him."
