After heart ailment, Aerosmith’s Joey Kramer is back in the saddle

Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer is back in the saddle after dealing with a heart issue that forced him to stop playing for a while. Kramer, 64, told heavy metal talk show host Eddie Trunk that he underwent angioplasty after being diagnosed with a coronary artery blockage. “I’ve never had any problems in the past. It’s just strictly a hereditary thing. There’s a family history, and I was the victim. But no more,” said Kramer, whose son Jesse filled in on drums for two shows. “It wasn’t time for my ticket to be punched. And so I got fixed, and I’m back 150 percent, and everything is as good as it can possibly be.” He originally believed the problem was related to acid reflux, but when antacid tablets didn’t resolve it, Kramer said he went to see a doctor.
