Subroto Cup final: Kerala stretch Brazil school

Colegio Estadul Santo Antonio won the Under-17 Boys final, beating MSP Higher Secondary School, Kerala 5-4 on penalties in the 55th edition of the Subroto Cup International Football Tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Monday.

NEW DELHI: Colegio Estadul Santo Antonio won the Under-17 Boys final, beating MSP Higher Secondary School, Kerala 5-4 on penalties in the 55th edition of the Subroto Cup International Football Tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Monday.
The visiting team, overseen by Fluminense, had to come from behind as the final ended 2-2 in full time.
The Kerala outfit looked set to take home the trophy when they took a 2-0 lead and though the team from Rio De Janeiro had managed to pull one goal back, all they needed to hold on to the ball in the dying minutes.

But Jose Ricardo had different plans as the midfielder found the net with the last kick of the match deep into injury time. The winners took home a prize purse of Rs 3.5 lakh and the runners up got richer by Rs 2 lakh.

Colegio Estadul Santo Antonio, Brazil 2 (Jose Ri cardo-44, 70+3) MSP Higher Secondary School, Kerala 2 (Mahin P Hussain-14; Gani Ahamed Nigam-43). Brazil school won on penalties 5-4.
