RNC beats DNC in September fundraising

The Republican National Committee out-raised the Democratic National Committee in the month of September, according to newly filed Federal Election Commission reports.

In September, the RNC brought in $13.5 million to the DNC’s roughly $10.2 million in total donations.

{mosads}It was the GOP’s best September haul for a midterm cycle, according to a release.

Through September, the RNC had raised $163.9 million for the 2014 election cycle. The DNC had raised $143.16 million for the cycle through the end of September

“As a result of our successful fundraising, the RNC has been able to help our partners at the NRSC and NRCC, as well as put more money into targeted races to help with crucial get out the vote efforts on the ground and online,” said GOP chairman Reince Priebus in a statement.

The RNC also announced that it is taking out a $5 million loan to go toward candidates before Election Day.

Both parties are hoping that their last minute spending may help them control the Senate come January. With less than three weeks before voters go to the polls, many of the races key to both party’s plans for a majority remain too close to call.
