Budget hotel to come up at a cost of Rs 4.5 crore

Rajahmundry: The state tourism development corporation has come up with big plans for enhancing the services and amenities for the benefit of visiting tourists during the ensuing Godavari Maha Kumbh Mela scheduled to be held in July, 2015. As part of the plans, it is going to construct a 40 room budget hotel in about half-an-acre land located on the banks of river Godavari.

The proposed budget hotel will have a restaurant, a conference hall. The cost of the project is estimated to be Rs 4.5 crore.

A proposal to set up a bar in the hotel has been dropped due to the presence of large number of temples in the vicinity. The tourism authorities sound confident to complete the execution of the project before commencement of the Godavari fete and online booking of rooms will be provided for the same.

As the state government announced to construct a convention centre in the city at a cost of Rs 4 crore, the APTDC will call for bids to take up its construction and this project too will be completed before the commencement of the Godavari fete.

The tourism authorities maintain that with the city is connected with the national highway no. 16, a rail network and an airport, there is more focus to provide more amenities to the visiting tourists in the city.

The administration has also decided to strengthen the water fleet for the benefit of tourists to have pleasure ride in Godavari river and also to Papikondalu from Pattiseem.

Accordingly, a brand new 100 seater boat 'Haritha' will be pressed into service while another 70 seater boat ‘Sir Arthur Cotton’ will also be pressed into service after an overhaul.

These two boats in addition to two speed boats with the capacity of 10 seater and five seater, will be used for long sail to Papikondalu.

For sailing on Godavari locally, the aut-horities will press into service three boats of 50 seater, 20 seater and 18 seater capacity. APTDC divisional manager G. Ramakrishna said, “We intend to provide best of the services to the visiting tourists and devotees.
