Rashmi issue takes political turn

Mysore: The assault on IAS officer Rashmi V Mahesh is taking a political turn. Members of Mysore city Vokkaliga Mahila Vedike met her to offer their commiseration and so did BJP Mahila Morcha activists.
Meanwhile, investigation of the case has been handed over to ACP Devaraja. ACP Jayamaruthi said the probe is under way and 25 men have been arrested.
State Women’s Commission former chairperson C Manjula told TOI after meeting Rashmi the officer was distressed after the attack.“The government did not respond swiftly. It has remained silent despite an attack on a woman officer who had written to chief secretary Kaushik Mukherjee seeking a probe into alleged irregularities at the Administrative Training Institute,’’ she added.
There appears to be a security lapse as attackers were ready with banners and posters, but police were silent, she said. “We’ll take up our fight against government inaction after discussing it with our party leaders,’’ Manjula said.
Police commissioner MA Saleem said three more accused, including two women, are yet to be nabbed. “We have identified them. In the second leg of our investigation, we’ll trace and arrest conspirators in the attack,’’ he said.
Medical report: Krishnarajendra Hospital submitted Rashmi’s medical report to the police. Sources said she lost an incisor of the upper jaw and suffered injuries to the head and body. Hospital medical superintendent Dr BG Sagar confirmed the report had been given to police but declined to divulge its contents.
Rashmi back at work: Rashmi, who is in-charge regional commissioner, attended a review meeting of officials from municipal administration and public enterprise.
