Vasco: Two minor
fire incidents were reported in the premises of
Mormugao port trust on Monday.
In the first incident, at around 1.10pm, a fire broke out after a spark was noticed as soon as the driver started the wheel loader between
berth No 9 and 10.
An alarm was raised and a MPT fire tender rushed to the spot followed by one from the Vasco fire station.
It took one-and-a-half-hour to douse the blaze, an official from the fire station said.
The wheel loader belonged to the contractor
Rodrigues Ltd who claimed a loss of 10 lakh.
The fire services official said that they saved property worth 25 lakh, adding that the cost of the machine is around 60 lakh.
The second incident occurred at around 3.35pm when an excavator caught fire. It was brought under control within minutes. The excavator was shifting wood chips.
