Budget airline Ryanair has launched a Twitter account to provide its customers with instant information about their flight.
The account @RyanairFlights provides instant real time information for 1,600 daily services.
Twitter users can send their Ryanair flight number starting with FR to the account by direct message and receive an instant update on that flight’s status via tweet.
Users must first follow @RyanairFlights, and although the information request is private, the account appears to respond publicly.
Currently the account has fewer than 1,000 followers, compared with more than 100,000 following the airline’s main Twitter account @Ryanair.
The updates seem to be tweeted only in response to a request, rather than providing general announcements about delayed or early flights and schedule changes.
“We look forward to rolling out further digital innovations, as we continue to offer so much more than just the lowest fares,” said spokesman Robin Kiely.
