Kellogg's MD in Bhopal booked after dead lizard found in corn flakes

Madhya Pradesh police on Saturday registered a case against managing director (MD) of breakfast cereal major Kellogg's India after a judge in Satna district allegedly found a dead lizard in one of its product.

BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh police on Saturday registered a case against managing director (MD) of breakfast cereal major Kellogg's India after a judge in Satna district allegedly found a dead lizard in one of its product.
Additional district judge Shivakant Pandey lodged a complaint with civil lines police station in Satna alleging that his servant took ill after consuming 'Corn Flakes' of Kellogg's India.

Case has been registered under sections 269 (Negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 272 (Adulteration of food or drink intended for sale) and 273 (sale of noxious food or drink) of IPC. Proprietor of the shop that sold the product has also been booked.
"We have sent samples for investigations. Dead lizard and food sample have been sealed for examination," said Ashok Singh, station house officer (SHO) of civil lines police station.
Kellogg's with global headquarters in Battle Creek, Michigan, US, is world's leading cereal company and a major producer of convenience food. It markets more than 1,500 products in over 180 countries the world over. Kellogg's India uses trademark of Kellogg's under licence.
The company entered Indian market in 1995 and its business had crossed Rs 500-crore sales mark in 16 years of its existence here. Kellogg's India had posted 31% growth last fiscal, sources said. As per its official website, the company has become synonymous with great taste & nourishing breakfast cereals.
Food department also began probe into the matter.
