The BFI London Film Festival charged to a close Sunday evening with WWII epic “Fury” blasting its colossal conclusion. En masse, pic’s Allied comrades attacked the crimson carpet fringing Leicester Square’s Odeon, fast ambushed by the gathered crazed crowds.
Veteran troops including “Fury” sergeant Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, Jason Isaacs, Michael Pena, Logan Lerman, Jon Bernthal and helmer David Ayer performed the mission’s obligatory meet-and-greet outside the cinema.
Admitting he’d been absorbed in the military action, LaBeouf elaborated on his research recon. “I joined the National Guard two months before we shipped out. I became a certified medic, a rifleman and a chaplain’s assistant a few months. It was more than just a movie.”
Pitt’s on-screen education came with lessons in life. His commanding role resonated with his parental instincts. “The crew were my responsibility, as my kids are,” he said, concluding, “It became much clearer for me, things I was intrinsically doing as a dad, there was method to them.”
After the screening, guests bombarded the art deco Bloomsbury Ballroom for the routine closing night bash, sinking Champagne de Bleuchamp late into the night.
