Sami Hyypia is to assess his under-performing Brighton & Hove Albion squad in an effort to determine what changes are required.

Having dropped to 20th in the Sky Bet Championship table on the back of an eight-match winless run, something needs to be done in order to stop the rot.

Hyypia arrived at the Amex Stadium over the summer hoping to make it a hat-trick of top-six finishes for the south coast club.

The chairman decides if I’m right for this club but I’m not a quitter, I’m a fighter, and I hope that our team is full of fighters as well.

Such a standing feels a long way off at present, but is not out of reach with a long way still to go.

Hyppia is aware of that fact but, with the loan window still open, admits that he needs to identify which areas of his squad are in need of a minor tweak.

He told The Argus: “I need to ask the chairman how much time I have, maybe it depends on that.

“Of course, we need to see why we are not winning games and then try to change it.

“If it appears we have a group of players that it’s impossible to change the situation with then we need to do something about it.”

Hyypia remains adamant that he is the right man to bring about a reversal in fortune, with there no chance of him walking away from the challenge.

He said: “It’s not up to me.

“I’m ambitious and I came here to be successful. That’s all I intend to do.

“The chairman decides if I’m right for this club but I’m not a quitter, I’m a fighter, and I hope that our team is full of fighters as well.”
