Frank Lampard may have had to come off the pitch injured on Saturday but that was not the reason why he has been pictured in a wheelchair.

Good guy Lamps, who retired from England duty after this summer's World Cup, was out to celebrate a substantial three-year grant for City in the Community, Manchester City's longstanding charitable initiative.

BT Sport’s The Supporters Club and the Premier League were able to supply the cash as part of their new match-funding partnership and is the second funding agreement of the season, after announcing a similar link with the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation.

The Supporters Club and the Premier League are forming a partnership that aims to provide funding to strong, innovative, social change programmes delivered by Premier League clubs and community projects focused on improving the lives of young people.

City in the Community, established in 1986, is looking to enhance their disability sport provision for young people in Manchester.

Lampard also took part in a special documentary for BT Sport, alongside inspiring wheelchair users who have been taking part in sessions for the past three years.

It is estimated that City in the Community helped 45,000 last season alone.
