Birmingham manager Lee Clark has insisted he will not quit the Blues and vowed to fight for his job.

The manager believes supporters need to be more realistic about what he has to deal with at St Andrew's.

Blues go to Blackburn on Tuesday 21st in the Sky Bet Championship after Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Bolton.

They have won just twice this season and Clark has come under fire from sections of the fans but will not resign.

He said: "I'm definitely not walking away, no chance. This is a big club, I love working for it and I am proud to be the manager.

"There have been a lot of tough days and I haven't put up with that for over two years just to walk away.

"I've got to come out fighting for myself because there's no one else doing that at the moment. There's some unnecessary criticism of what's happening

"I'm not after a kiss and a cuddle - maybe from the Mrs - and supporters are within their rights to boo but it's easy to boo when you lose.

"I understand I am not flavour of the month with the supporters and a lot of them would like to see someone different but I'm not too sure if things would change. I think I'm getting everything out of the players."

Clark has had to contend with a severely restricted budget and off-field issues with the club up for sale and feels there needs to be a greater understanding of the situation.

He said: "I have to deal in reality, I don't think there are many people dealing in that at the moment.

"They are not seeing the bigger picture in performances, not seeing the picture of where we are financially and in our recruitment.

"Fulham bought a player where the transfer fee alone was bigger than my playing budget, Wigan spent more on deadline day than my playing budget.

"With the exception of David Davis who was out of favour at Wolves I haven't bought a player. The ones from higher clubs, Brek Shea and Grant Hall, are only on loan.

"There are going to be people kicking up a fuss but I'm open, I'll talk to them and put it plainly to them. I'm an honest fella who deals in the real world and there's not much of that being given to me at the moment, that's for sure."
