Guernsey and Jersey have made it through to the second round of the English Hockey Association Trophy.

Guernsey, who are the reigning champions, won 3-2 away at Basingstoke thanks to a goal from Steve Waldrom five minutes from full-time.

Meanwhile, Jersey had a nervous passage into the last 32 as they beat Blackheath on penalties.

The island side progressed after winning the shootout 3-2 after drawing 4-4 at the end of extra time.

Guernsey will face Reading-based Sonning in the second round, while Jersey meet Gore Court from Kent.
