Tata Global Beverages has cautioned its customers in the vicinity of Thane and Ulhasnagar areas of Maharashtra about fraudulent promotional offers.
The Kolkata-headquartered company, in a public notice, said some unscrupulous persons are using the company's name and meeting customers, usually housewives during office hours when they are alone, in the above mentioned areas.
"They call themselves as members of Tata Tea Advertising department.
"They assure the customer that upon their immediate cash enrollment for Rs 1,000 up to Rs 3,500, they will be sent a set of coupons, which they can exchange to buy various household consumer goods like tea, detergent, toothpaste, etc," the notice said.
They mention that the customer will also be entering into sales promotion contests, which have prizes like car, refrigerator, LCD TV, tec.
The company said it is neither conducting nor has ever conducted any such promotional offers.
Tata Global Beverages asked all its customers not to believe these false promises and inform the local police station if anybody tries to cheat them with such promises.
