Haryana to have 13 women MLAs for first time
A total 116 women candidates had contested the polls this year. The polls were held in 90 seats across the state.
Haryana scripted history with this year's Vidhan Sabha elections as 13 of its 90 MLAs will be women this time - a first in the state.

A maximum of eight female BJP candidates were declared elected followed by three from the Congress and one each from INLD and HJC.
Five of these elected female candidates have returned as Members of the Legislative Assembly. These include Geeta Bhukkal, a minister in the former Hooda government, Kiran Choudhary, Renuka Bishnoi, Shakuntla Khatak, Santosh Chauhan Sarwan and Kavita Jain.
Apart from them, other female candidates who have won the election this year include Santosh Yadav, Seema Trikha, Naina Singh Chautala, Latika Sharma, Rohita Rewari, Bimla Chaudhary and Prem Lata Chaudhary.
In 1996, the state had fielded 93 women candidates, of which only four were elected.
In the year 1991, 41 female candidates contested and only six of them were elected; in 1987, 35 female candidates contested and five were elected; in the year 1982, as many as 27 female candidates contested and seven of them managed to win.
Among the women who contested the Assembly elections in the year 2014, 10 represented the Indian National Congress and 16 belonged to the Indian National Lok Dal. While 15 were from the Bharatiya Janata Party, five from Haryana Janhit Congress (BL) and six from the Bahujan Samaj Party contested the by-polls.
