LUDHIANA: The family members of two brothers -- murdered last month at Jamalpur -- asserted that they wanted the CBI to investigate the case, as they had no faith in the Punjab police, which are conducting the enquiries at present. Jatinder Singh (25) alias Goldy, and his brother Harinder Singh (23) alias Lally, were allegedly gunned down at around 9am on September 27 at Ahluwalia Colony by Gurjeet Singh, husband of the lady sarpanch of village Khokhran in Machiwara, and three policemen -- head constable Yadwinder Singh, and home guards Ajit Singh and Baldev Singh (all posted at the Machiwara police station) due to a personal village feud.
Addressing mediapersons here, Satpal Singh, father of the deceased, said that since he had no faith in the Punjab police, he does not expect much from the report being prepared by them to be submitted on October 29. He added that the police had neither lodged an FIR in the case, nor given him the death certificate of his sons. Moreover, they were not even provided security.
Talking to mediapersons, Bhagwant Mann, AAP MP from Sangrur, said they would decide after October 29 whether to start a mass agitation or to take up the matter to the Supreme Court. Mann said he would meet Harcharan Brar, SSP Ludhiana (Rural) -- the investigating officer -- on Monday, to get more information on the case.
