    Synopsis

Like in Hisar, Modi magic seems to have robbed Congress and the INLD of its cadres. The party made inroads into opposition bastions.

CHANDIGARH: Bharatiya Janata Party won four-out of the nine-seats in Hisar, traditionally a bastion of Congress, Indian National Lok Dal and the Haryana Janhit Congress. The party has won four seats in 2009 assembly polls.
The BJP's wining list included Premlata in Uchana defeated INLD's Dushyant Chautala, Capt Abhimanyu who won his first poll, Kamal Gupta who prevailed over Congress’ Savitri Jindal and Bishamber Singh. The party candidates were runners up on three-assembly polls in the district that witnessed intensive campaigning.

Like in Hisar, Modi magic seems to have robbed Congress and the INLD of its cadres. The party made inroads into opposition bastions. The trail of BJP's success in Haryana Assembly polls seems to have followed the Prime Minister’s poll rallies across the constituencies. The PM's Hisar rally marks a mix of national issues and all out attack on Congress for its dynastic politics.

"The target was multiple Congress, HJC as well as the INLD," says BJP's working committee member, Krishan Kumar told ET. "There was perceptible vigour after the Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the rally," he added.

The BJP had headquarters its office in Congress chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda bastion Rohtak. The PM addressed a major gathering here that seem to have aided it in winning five seats including Rohtak that was bagged by Manish Grover. The party also bagged Kosli, Ballabgarh, Badli and Kallan constituencies that falls under Rohtak Lok Sabha seat.

The local issues highlighted by the PM like price of paddy in Karnal and developing religious tourism in Kurukshetra turned the tide in favour of the saffron party. The party won eight out of the nine seats in Karnal and five in Kurukshetra. During the rally Modi, castigated the INLD for using his photograph to misguide people about its likely alliance with the saffron party.

"The rallies of the PM were strategically scheduled to make impact in constituencies where the party felt lagged behind in campaigning," a BJP media coordinator said.

A strong pro Modi wave in Northern Haryana won it all the nine seats in Ambala Lok Sabha constituency.

The PM's rallies at Bhiwani, Jind, Jagadari, Faridabad boosted the party's campaign. The only exception was Sonepat where Hooda's influence seems to have sustained the Congress.
