A plan is on the anvil to familiarise the devotees visiting Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy temple in Bhadrachalam with the distinctive lifestyle and cultural heritage of Adivasis of the Bhadrachalam Agency. The plan envisages display of valuable tribal artefacts, presently housed in the mini-tribal museum at ITDA office building, in the Vista complex premises near the temple. The tribal museum has a unique collection of more than 100 exhibits including eco-friendly household articles made of bottle guards, dried leaves and roots. It also has a distinguished range of bamboo artefacts, traditional ornaments like earrings and musical instruments highlighting the innate craftsmanship of Adivasis, including Konda Reddis and Koyas of the Agency areas.
Lack of awareness about the tribal museum, which is part of the regional centre of the Tribal Cultural Research and Training Institute situated in the ITDA office building complex, has kept the rich collection of exhibits unexplored by history enthusiasts and art lovers.
We are on the lookout for a suitable place in the Vista Complex to display the artefacts for the benefit of the devotees visiting the Bhadradri temple, said Vasantha Rao, Superintendent, Tribal Museum, ITDA. This will help acquaint people with the glorious Adivasi culture and traditions, he said.
