Gujarat tennis on a rise
AHMEDABAD: They say there's always room at the top. Seems like Gujarati tennis players are working on this adage seriously. It is indeed proud moment in state's history as two of its tennis players are ruling in the rankings.
While Ankita Raina is already heading the nation in women category, her state mate Zeel Desai is following her closely and may be sitting atop of girls under-16 category soon.

Ace Ahmedabad tennis player Zeel, who recently won the U-16 girls singles title at the 20th Fenesta Open National Junior Tennis Championship on Saturday, is all set to secure top ranking in All India Tennis Association (AITA) U-16 girls' category.
Her win over Ramya Natrajan 7-5, 6-0 in the match that lasted over an hour and 25 minutes has proved instrumental in her rise in the rankings. The win also saw Zeel complete a grand double, as she had also won the U-16 girls' doubles title on Friday.
In last 10 days, Zeel has competed in two different tournaments and bagged around 275 points which should get her past her opponents to the top position. The AITA will announce new rankings after Diwali.
Top position in U-16 will be an icing on the cake as Zeel has previously held the top rank in U-14 category.
