Beirut is celebrating World Food Day with the newest foodie fad: Disco Soup!

The Disco Soup movement encourages people of all ages and backgrounds to gather in a public space and cook a meal. But it’s not your average potluck; the ingredients are made up of discarded food that is perfectly edible but heading for the trash bins.

The idea behind this feast is to highlight the problem of food waste that happens every day around the world. The Disco Soup meals create a fun environment for everyone while raising awareness about a crucial issue worldwide.

And Beirutis are ready to join in the on the fun. The event takes place on October 19 and is hosted by Food Blessed and Slow Food Beirut. Everyone is invited to chop vegetables and encouraged to dance (multiple DJs will be on location to provide funky beats!). Now that’s a great way to spend a Sunday.
