30 militants give up fighting in Afghan province

A total of 30 armed Taliban militants gave up fighting and resumed normal life in Qaisar district of Faryab province with Maimana as its capital 425 km northwest of Kabul on Saturday, deputy to provincial police chief Mohammad Naeem Andarabi said Sunday. "Thirty Taliban fighters laid down arms and resumed normal life in their communities in Qaisar district on Saturday afternoon," Andarabi told reporters.

These people were involved in anti-government activities in Qaisar and Almar districts over the past couple of years and with their joining in civil society, the security situation will be further improved in the province, the police official added.

Taliban militants who are active in Faryab province and fighting against government to regain power are yet to make comment. Endi
