UNCTAD Open Regional Session in Muscat


(MENAFN- QNA) The 30th regional session on key issues in the international economy, organized by the Omani Ministry of Trade and Industry in cooperation with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) opened here today and will continue until the 6th of November.

The session focuses on the links between trade, investment and finance in the context of international trade negotiations.

The session aims to improve understanding of the relationships among these areas and their relevance to country development strategies and to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to design and implement trade and development policies, and trade agreements relating to the needs and interests of their own countries.

The session will tackles a number of important outstanding issues in the international arena which are among the concerns of states including Arab countries. It will also discuss key topics namely trade, financial flows, macroeconomic policies and development, foreign direct investment, enterprise development and knowledge economy, key political issues, international transport and trade facilitation, the multilateral trading system and regional trade agreements.
