BSNL lines down

Over 25,000 telephone lines and broadband connections went down on Friday night after BSNL’s Anna Nagar telephone exchange was hit by frequent power fluctuation during the heavy rain.

It is here the main switching unit (MSU) for areas including Anna Nagar, Avadi, Ambattur and Pattabhiram is located.

According to BSNL spokesperson G. Vijaya, by Saturday evening, most of the broadband connections were restored.

“The power fluctuation let to damage of both the software and hardware in the MSU. We regret the inconvenience caused to the consumers,” she said.
