Missing since morning, former CM Prithviraj Chavan lands in Karad in the thick of night

Missing since morning, Prithviraj Chavan landed in Karad just before 10 pm on Saturday, hours before his fate was to be known from Karad South constituency. By the time Chavan landed, most of his supporters, who had been waiting for him since morning to pep them up in view of the adverse exit poll reports about the fall of the Cong-NCP government, had left in disappointment.

On the road outside his residence, there was no public movement. The neighbourhood had apparently gone to sleep.

Chavan, who otherwise gives fleeting glimpse to his supporters, remained unavailable. The door remained shut with relatives huddled together, discussing apparently everything except Chavan’s fate.

The family said it was confident of Chavan’s victory, so did not want to bother itself much. “Why should we bother ourselves when we are cent per cent sure of his victory?” said his wife, Satvasheela.
