Whatever be your response or action during an emergency, remember to uphold basic human rights and respect people, Austine Eapen, Deputy Inspector General of the Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) said on Saturday.

He was addressing the attestation ceremony and passing out parade at the ITBP Recruits Training Centre at Illuppaikudi Camp.

Speaking about the need to serve the country with diligence and dignity, Mr. Austine Eapen further asked the constables to maintain a high level of enthusiasm and commitment whether were put on duty during the elections or during insurgencies.

“By joining the ITBP, all of you have made a good decision and I encourage you to show the same amount of enthusiasm and zeal during your service.

Give enough importance to your physical and mental health as well which will enable you to stay fit and attentive,” he added.

A total of 261 constables passed out of the ITBP and participated in the ceremony.

44 week training

The recruits had undergone a 44 week rigorous training programme which included weapon handling, drill map reading, physical training, internal security and counter insurgency.

The formal passing out parade could not be held in its full strength due to the heavy showers in the area, but the recruits assembled on the parade grounds and took an oath to devote themselves to the service of protecting the nation.

Prizes given

Prizes were distributed to the constables who had excelled in firing, endurance, weapon training and also drills.

Constable Banwari Lal was awarded the overall ‘best trainee’ trophy.
