A tiny bylane in Hauz Khas Village is hardly a place you would expect to find a collection of artworks by 75 masters of Indian art.
However, the Delhi Art Gallery has managed to do just that by showcasing works by some of the best artists that have converted the gallery into a museum, which every art lover and visitor to the market should drop in to admire.
The exhibition of modern art, titled “Manifestation XI”, brings together artists covering a wide period and varied styles.
The artworks are grouped by genre into the categories like landscapes, still-life, mythology, figurative, narrative, and abstract art.
Some of the artists of repute whose works are being showcased include M. F. Husain, S. H. Raza, F. N. Souza, Raja Ravi Varma, Jamini Roy, Nandalal Bose, N. S. Bendre, Ram Kumar, Satish Gujral and Ganesh Pyne.
To act as a guide through the exhibition, the gallery has published a detailed coffee table book containing details about the works as well as write-ups by art scholars and writers.
The book puts every work into perspective, and tells the story and inspiration behind the work. The exhibition is on till November 30.
