The State government has issued a show-cause notice to the Director-General of Administrative Training Institute (ATI) in Mysore, Rashmi V., on charges of indiscipline, and has asked her to reply in a “reasonable time.”
After ATI employees assaulted her on October 15, Ms. Rashmi had addressed a press conference giving details of the inquiry report she had submitted to the government exposing an alleged Rs. 100-crore scam by her predecessor, Amita Prasad.
Chief Secretary Kaushik Mukherjee said that holding a press conference without permission was considered indiscipline, and action could be initiated as per the All-India Services Conduct Rules, 1968 and All-India Services Disciplinary and Appeal Rules, 1969.
He said the government had started a probe into the issue last month, soon after she had submitted the report. “Additional Chief Secretary T.M. Vijayabhaskar has been entrusted with the responsibility, and going to the press even when the inquiry is on is wrong on her part,” he said.
He said the official’s allegations of a scam in the ATI were “baseless” as the annual budget of the ATI was a mere Rs. 14 crore.
