Savills has appointed Roland O'Connell as its new chairman.

Mr O'Connell replaces Larry Brennan, who will now focus on his role as Head of the Commercial Division of the firm.

Company managing director Angus Potterton commented: "I am delighted that Roland has been appointed Chairman of Savills Ireland. He is a true stalwart, whose vast experience and expertise makes him the ideal candidate to oversee the development and growth of the business."

Mr Roland is one of Savills' longest serving employees. He joined the firm in 1981 and during this time he was primarily responsible for the office agency department. He has advised numerous high profile clients in their search for office property in Ireland, including State Street for their new Dublin HQ - the largest city centre office transaction since the Citi HQ deal in 1999 - a deal in which he was also involved. More recently he secured the letting of city centre HQs to Facebook and Yahoo. He is a past President of the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland.
