Music on Rajdhani, Duronto from November
KOLKATA: Come November and passengers on the Rajdhanis and Durontos between New Delhi and Howrah/Sealdah will be treated to piped music during the journey. This decision was taken by Eastern Railway general manager R K Gupta after discussions with a cross-section of passengers. To ensure better quality food and service on these premier trains, ER will also get a third-party audit conducted.
Necessary changes will be made after the audit report is submitted.
“We already have the facility to make announcements. We have now decided to play piped music in the coaches in the mornings and evenings. While Rabindra Sangeet will be played in the mornings, passengers said they would prefer old Hindi songs in the evenings. We shall make necessary arrangements and start playing the music from November 1. We would encourage more people to come forward with suggestions to make services better,” Gupta said.
ER is also making arrangements to start serving pre-cooked packed meals to passengers on a demand basis. Before long, Rajdhani and Duronto passengers may opt for Chettinad Chicken and parathas packed in sealed foil packs instead of the routine fare served from the railway base kitchen. This will be an option though and the charges will vary according to the food ordered. Those who wish to have the normal food prepared at the base kitchens will be permitted to do so.
