Vidya Sagar re-launches disabled-friendly café in Chennai
CHENNAI: Vidya Sagar has re-launched the Kalakkal Café, which is an accessible, less expensive and inclusive cafeteria, in Chennai.
From Braille menu cards, tactile walls, ramps for wheelchairs, accessible bathrooms to eating aids, the cafe has everything to help differently-abled people relax and have a leisure time.
It would be open on all Saturdays from 5pm to 9pm for not just the disabled but to anyone who respects diversity.

The cafe can also be used as a space for youngsters to showcase their talents as individuals and groups in music and arts. “Leisure being a crucial aspect and requirement of one's life and it being a major right of any human being in the world, it still remains an aspect not thought about or completely inaccessible, expensive and out of reach for people with disabilities - especially the youth,” representatives of Vidya Sagar said.
