Gujarat govt to announce three new policies this Monday

Gujarat Finance Minister Saurabh Patel will announce Gujarat government’s new Information Technology, Electronics and E-Governance policies on Monday, 20 October at Gandhinagar secretariat campus based Swarnim Sankul – 1.

Gujarat government’s Information Technology policy is expired three years back. Gujarat Congress had slammed state government for this couple of days back in a statement.

During curtain raiser event for the Vibrant Gujarat Summit in Delhi in the end of the month of August this year, Saurabh Patel had announced state’s intention to declare IT and Electronics policy within next one and half month.

He had said, “we are working on new policies. We will soon come with Electronic policy because we all know that lot of imports in India are taking place in hardware sector. IT policy is also coming soon. All these things will be done in a very short spell of time.”

In reference to state’s plan to do big in Electronics sector, Saurabh Patel had added, “once we take a call that we want to focus on particular sector, we go all out. Automobile is an example. Five years back we were nowhere on automobile manufacturing map, today we are a hub.”

In August only, Science and Technology Minister of Gujarat Bhupendrasinh Chudasama had stated that Gujarat government will set up five greenfield and three brownfield electronic clusters by year 2015. He said Gujarat government has prepared a separate e-governance policy covering 500 services. He had requested union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad for fast implementation of national fiber network in Gujarat. He had also asked centre to set up E-governance university, centre of excellence for E-governance and digital library in Gujarat.
