UDUPI: Leaders of Udupi District Vidyarthi Yuva Sene, student wing of Hindu Yuva Sene, have threatened a protest if justice is not meted out to 18-year-old Karthik Shetty who died in an alleged case of medical negligence.
According to a complaint with Ullal police station filed by the boy's uncle Vijay Kumar Shetty, Karthik, who was admitted to Yenepoya Medical College Hospital in Deralakatte in Mangalore, died on October 7, due to medical negligence shown by the doctors.
He was admitted there for a dental surgery.
Karthik first approached Dr Subrahmanya Shetty at a clinic in Petri village in Udupi taluk, who suggested tha he get admitted at Yenepoya Medical College Hospital. He then underwent a surgery on October 4. Dr Musthafa and Dr Shehazan performed the surgery on Karthik.
The complainant stated that there was no postmortem conducted and the parents were not informed. A case has been registered against Dr Subrahmanya Shetty, Dr Musthafa and Dr Shehazan.
