Naval Armament Depot (NAD) had scheduled the written test for recruitment of multi-tasking staff from October 25 to 27 at ACA-ADCA Cricket Stadium in Vizag.

Naval Armament Depot (NAD) had scheduled the written test for recruitment of multi-tasking staff from October 25 to 27 at ACA-ADCA Cricket Stadium in Vizag. In a release, NAD said that due to adverse consequences as a result of of Cyclone Hudhud, the examination has been postponed. Candidates who received call letters have been asked to go through the official website www.irfc.nausena-bharti.nic.in/HQENC/CCPO for further announcement of revisted date and venue for the examination.
AVN College damaged
About 16 classrooms were badly damaged while four were partially damaged at Mrs AVN College, said a release from the college.
Principal Vedula Perraju said the government should sanction funds to cover an estimated Rs 80 lakh.
Customs House back in operation
Normal customs work, including clearance of import and export consignments and processing of documents through Indian Customs EDI System (ICES 1.5) have been resumed to facilitate trade and industry, a release by commissioner of customs, C Rajendiran, said. Further, the office of the chief commissioner of customs, central excise & service tax, Visakhapatnam Zone, which is based in Vizag and has jurisdiction over entire Andhra Pradesh as well as the headquarters of the central excise & service tax, Visakhapatnam-I & Visakhapatnam II commissionerates, have returned to their normal functioning. After the devastating severe cyclone 'Hudhud', Customs House was badly affected with a of trees in and around the premises falling down and blocking access. Electrical poles and leased telephone lines providing power and internet access also got damaged, affecting the processing of online clearances of import and export consignments. Sufficient manpower and resources have been deployed for smooth functioning.

Assistance by Gangavaram Port
Gangavaram Port Limited has organized a series of activities to help the cyclone-affected families in Gajuwaka and surrounding areas by providing essential food items and water, said a release. Gangavaram Port staff distributed milk packets, rice, bread, biscuits and organised water tankers for the locals who were struggling due to lack of daily supplies of food and water. Gangavaram Port also organized 2 heavy cranes for APEPDCL to help in the restoration of power supply to the region and 2 heavy duty motors were provided to Dibbapalem and Sri Nagar RH colonies for pumping drinking water to overhead water tank in rehabilitated colony. On Friday, 1000 rice bags were distributed to the cyclone victims at Kongapalem and Satyanarayana Puram among others.
SBI branches to work on Sunday
All public sector banks have decided to keep their branches open on Sunday for the convenience of people in the cyclone hit city of Vizag. Even as the State Bank of India will open its 24 branches in the city on Sunday, a mobile ATM was inaugurated by SBI general manager Ashwin Mehta at the main branch at Rednam Gardens on Friday. The mobile ATM, carrying Rs 30 lakh cash, would do the rounds of areas where ATMs have been out of order for the past six days. This includes areas like Arilova, Poorna Market, HB Colony, Dabagardens, Akkayyapalem, Beach Road and wherever SBI ATMs have not been functioning, SBI regional manager KN Prasad said.
BOI help for Hudhud victims
The zonal office of Bank of India, Visakhapatnam participated in helping the cyclone-affected by distributing a bag of cooking essentials including rice, dal, oil, upma rawa, salt, sugar, noodles, dry chillies and tamarind besides bread, biscuits, tetra milk packets, candles and so on for the last three days under the leadership of zonal manager Susil Kumar Agarwal. Around 500 persons per day at Pedapudi, Achutapuram, Chinapudi, Pudi Madaka, Rushikonda, Thimmapuram, Chapelauppada, Ramadri, Koperla and nearby villages were benefitted.
Gitam aid of 50 lakh to CM relief fund
To give a helping hand to cyclone victims through the Andhra Pradesh state government, Gitam University on Friday donated Rs 50 lakh to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. According to Gitam registrar Prof M Potharaju, the donated amount was the voluntary contribution of the Gitam teaching and non-teaching staff in Visakhapatanam, Hyderabad and Bengaluru campuses as well as the Gitam social responsibility and disaster management fund. He also said that the university created this fund by transferring two per cent of its gross revenues every year. The amount accrued from the fund are utilized for relief activities.
