MUMBAI: Work on the north-bound carriageway of Kherwadi flyover on the Western Express Highway (WEH) will begin next week. An MMRDA official said, “Traffic police have begun making arrangements by installing barricades. The work is likely to conclude in six months.”
Traffic authorities are planning to open one lane of the south-bound carriageway for light vehicles going towards Andheri.
It has also been decided to allow only north-bound traffic movement on the service road adjoining the north-direction lanes of the WEH.
The 580m southbound arm of the Kherwadi flyover was opened in June, easing traffic congestion between Kalanagar and Western Express Highway. “The south-bound carriageway has led to a signal-free drive from Dahisar to Worli.” Nearly 5,000 vehicles cross Kherwadi junction during peak hour per hour every day.
