The Government of Telangana on Friday formed three separate panels – State Apex Committee, State Empowered Committee and State Mission Team to review progress in the implementation of Crime and Criminal Tracking System (CCTNS) Project.
The committees have been formed on the suggestion of the Director General of National Crime Records Bureau for the purpose. The project has been launched by the Government of India and has been approved by the Planning Commission as Mission Mode Project under e-governance plan.
The 11-member State Apex Committee, headed by the Chief Secretary to the State government, will review the progress of the project, monitor utilisation of funds and issue policy directions and guidelines.
Similarly, the 11-member State Empowered Committee, headed by the Director General of Police, will be responsible for allocation of funds, approval of BPR (Business Process Reengineering) proposals, sanction of various project components, approval of various functionalities, review progress of the project, proper training arrangements, deployment of appropriate handholding personnel and other important policy and procedural issues.
The four-member State Mission Team, chaired by an IGP, will take operational responsibility for the project. It will formulate proposals and get sanction of GOI for various projects. It will also be responsible for hardware roll-out and operationalisation, coordination with various agencies, resolution of software related issues and issues hindering the project progress as well as assisting the State Apex and Empowered Committees, according to a GO issued on Friday.
