Film on Dhoni's life is Bollywood's latest biopic

The feature film will not only cover the remarkable rise of the World Cup-winning captain, but will also reveal some interesting facts of Dhoni's personal life and journey before he became a global sporting icon.

After Paan Singh Tomar, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Mary Kom, Bollywood is all set to have another film based on the life of a famous sportsperson. This time, the biopic will be on the life of Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

A poster of the film, set for a 2015 release, was published in dailies recently, sparking off excitement among Dhoni fans. The cricketer's wife confirmed the news on Twitter. "Clearing out all those rumours being carried out past few days (sic). It was all false. Here you go ....BOOM! (sic)" she said in a recent post.

The biopic titled MS Dhoni-The Untold Story, to be directed by prominent filmmaker Neeraj Pandey, will feature Sushant Singh Rajput in the lead role. The feature film will not only cover the remarkable rise of the World Cup-winning captain, but will also reveal some interesting facts of Dhoni's personal life and journey before he became a global sporting icon.

Pandey, who has in the past given remarkable films such as the Naseeruddin Shah-starrer A Wednesday and Special 26 starring Akshay Kumar, is lately busy shooting action thriller Baby with Akshay Kumar. He will soon start the shooting with Sushant in the lead. "It's a unique journey of a unique individual, leader and an international icon," said Neeraj, who is busy finalising the script and pre-production work of the biopic.

"I am immensely excited to play Dhoni on screen. He is an inspiration for millions and Neeraj Pandey is one of the most prolific directors, looking forward!" said Sushant Singh, who will be playing the role of a cricketer for the second time. In his debut film Kai Po Che, Sushant had played a district level cricketer.

In the poster, actor Sushant has his back to the viewers and is wearing the Indian ODI jersey with Dhoni's name and number. The film's budget is reportedly Rs 45 crore.
