The Pakistani senate on Friday paid glowing tribute to Malala Yousufzai upon winning the Nobel Peace Prize and said she gave "innumerable sacrifices for peace and promotion of education in Swat".

The Upper House of parliament unanimously adopted a resolution "saluting the struggle and efforts of Malala who has given innumerable sacrifices for peace and promotion of education in Swat", Dawn said.

Awami National Party (ANP) Senator Haji Adeel moved the resolution.

Following the resolution, the senators discussed the ceasefire violation along the Line of Control (LoC).

The daily citied leader of the House Raja Zafarul Haq as saying it was unfortunate that Indian forces were trying to destabilise measures for peace by targeting the civilian population residing along the LoC.

Haq rejected the opposition's objections in relation to the government's response over the ceasefire violation and said that the government already issued several statements to condemn Indian aggression.

"The political government and the military leadership are on the same page to counter the challenges regarding the internal and external security of the country," he added.
