HYDERABAD:
Kidambi Srikanth will consider himself lucky. Thanks to the last minute pull out of world No. 1 Lee Chong Wei, Srikanth, who could have faced the Malaysian in the second round, had an easy outing against Jen Hao Hsu of Chinese Taipei 21-15, 21-12 in the
Denmark Open Super Series Premier on Thursday.
Joining Srikanth in the quarterfinals are his practice partners
Parupalli Kashyap and
PV Sindhu.
While Kashyap registered a hard-fought victory over Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka of Indonesia 21-17, 17-21, 22-20, Sindhu defeated little known Ksenia Polikarpova of Russia 21-18, 21-19 in the pre-quarterfinals.
Commonwealth Games gold medallist Kashyap had to save a match point to get past Rumbaka. The world No. 29 Indian won the first game without much difficulty.
