(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) WASHINGTON, Oct. 16 -- The American Conservative Union issued the following news release: The American Conservative Union seeks an experienced communications professional to lead the organization's communications operation. The Communications Director will report to the Executive Director. This position is based in Washington, DC.



The Communications Director is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive strategy for all communications for the American Conservative Union, its Foundation, and CPAC, including media, booking, grassroots engagement, organizational websites and other online communications, with the ultimate goal of advancing organizational missions and goals.

Duties & Responsibilities * Serve as liaison and spokesperson to all media outlets.


* Plan and execute communications strategy for the ACU, including press, grassroots and member communications, and online content for ACU, ACUF and CPAC.

* Create media opportunities for the ACU and ACU Foundation Chairmen to promote current activities.

* Manage all communications and marketing of CPAC in collaboration with the Events and Conferences team.

* Manage content for the ACU and ACU Foundation websites, as well as CPAC-related efforts like The Road to CPAC.

* Assist in the development of online and policy content for the ACU Foundation.

* Partner with the Government Affairs team to communicate the release of Congressional and state legislative ratings.

* Coordinate with ACU Foundation Fellows to communicate policy centers' findings, positions and research.

* Develop and oversee social media strategy and content.

* Conceptualize, develop and execute periodic public events with the goal of increasing ACU/ACUF standing as a thought leader in conservative policy making.

* Maintain media relationships and press lists.

* Develop and manage the Communications budget.

* Effectively oversee all communications vendors and contractors, managing budgets and deliverables.

* Supervise other Communications division staff, providing opportunities for professional development as appropriate.

* Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements * Ability to perform in highly stressful situations.

* Previous experience "on the record" required.

* Campaign communications experience preferred.

* Experienced in the development and execution of communications plans.

* Keen attention to detail and the ability to maintain confidentiality are critical.

* Strong written and verbal communications skills.

* Professional manner.

* Possesses the professional courage and confidence to express his/her opinions and judgment with regard to organizational initiatives, even when they might diverge from the points of view of colleagues.

* Resourcefulness.

* Ability to work successfully individually or in a team environment, as well as to exercise sound professional judgment.

* Ability to handle a variety of tasks simultaneously in an environment where interruptions are common.

* Passionate about the principles of limited government, personal responsibility, and free enterprise.

Education & Training * Bachelor's Degree in English, Political Science, or the Liberal Arts and at least 6 years of relevant work experience.
