Film shooting will continue in Visakhapatnam in spite of the havoc caused by the very severe cyclonic storm Hudhud, film actor-turned-politician Nandamuri Balakrishna said here on Friday.

The Hindupur MLA, who came here to meet Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and visit cyclone-affected areas in Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram districts, said the film industry, apart from individually contributing to the cyclone relief, would plan a programme to mobilise funds and help the cyclone victims. He would discuss the details with the MP and president of Movie Artists Association Muralimohan in a day or two.

Film industry always rose to the occasion whenever a natural calamity happened and his late father, N.T. Rama Rao, was the one who started raising funds, Mr. Balakrishna recalled. He himself donated Rs. 30 lakh to the relief fund and arranged for distribution of rice and other materials worth Rs. 15 lakh in the three districts.

A natural disaster cannot be stopped but by taking advance action many human lives were saved, but the cyclone caused massive damage, he said and wanted all to come together in providing help to the victims and bringing the city back into shape. Mr. Naidu is doing a good job by inspiring the officials and employees to work hard while the people showed their strong will power in surmounting the problem, Mr. Balakrishna said.

The film actor would visit Srikakulam after participating in a breast cancer awareness programme in Hyderabad.
