Expelled Congress leader Gufran threatens to drag state bigwigs to court
BHOPAL: Day after his expulsion by AICC, rebel Congress leader Gufran-e-Azam on Thursday shot off a letter to state PCC president Arun Yadav threatening to file a defamation suit against party leaders, who went public with news of his dismissal. The former MP from Betul was shown the door after he openly challenged the leadership credentials of AICC president Sonia Gandhi and party national vice-president Rahul Gandhi.

State Congress chief spokesman K K Mishra issued a press release to inform about AICC decision to expel Azam for "anti-party activities" on Wednesday. The expelled Congressman is peeved with Mishra for issuing the press release.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Gufran-e-Azam said, "I am a member of AICC and no one in the state Congress can take a decision on disciplinary action against me. Any decision in this regard has to be taken by AICC. So how did Mishra issue a press release on my expulsion? Is he custodian of the AICC? Who has authorized him to do so?"
