PUNE: Viswanathan Anand infamously lost a game in six moves to Colombian GM Alonso Zabatta in 1988. Iranian WGM Sarasadat Khademalsharieh suffered a similar fate when she went down in 10 with white against Russian top seed Aleksandra Goryachkina in the girls' section of the World Junior Chess Championships on Thursday.
The comfortable victory in the 10th round helped defending champion Goryachkina aggregate eight points, widening her gap from the rest by 1.5 points.
Peru's Chumpitaz Ann occupied the lone second spot with seven points after beating Poland's Anna Iwanow.
Srija Seshadri (2099) scored a mild upset against Romania's Ioana Gelip (2154) while Padmini Rout held Georgia's second seeded Meri Arabidze. The two joined Sarasadat and two oth ers ­ China's Mo Zhai and Russian Daria Pustovoitova -in third place with seven points each.
In the Open section, 15-year-old IM Aravindh Chithambaram (2485) held Peruvian GM Jorge Cori (2612) but Diptayan Ghosh (2508) missed another chance to get a GM norm when he signed the peace treaty with Poland's Kamil Dragun (2546). The Open section was led by two Chinese -Lu Shanglei and Wei Yi.
