Conference lectures on cardiology

LAHORE - Punjab Institute of Cardiology Lahore on Thursday arranged the annual medical conference to highlight the latest developments in the field of adult cardiology, paediatric cardiology, nuclear cardiology and cardiac surgery.
Third meeting of this conference was inaugurated on Friday at a local hotel with the recitation of Holy Quran. Opening ceremony was led with welcome address by conference convener Dr Bilal S Mohydin, Prof Nadeem Hayat Mallick, Dr Bilal Zakariah Khan along with stage sectary Dr Shahzad Tawwab followed by official inauguration and address of Prof
Khawaja Sadiq.
The conference included state of the art lectures by renowned cardiologists including Prof Bilal Z Khan, Prof Nadeem Hayat Mallick, Prof Stephen R Underwood, Prof John Campbell Chambers, Prof Saqib Shafi, Prof Muhammad Azhar, Prof Zubair Akram, Prof Masood A Cheema, Maj Gen MMH Nuri, Dr Muhammad Ayub, Prof Masood Sadiq, Prof Shahnawaz, Dr Asif ur Rehman, Prof Hafizullah, Prof Saulat Siddique, Prof Abdul Waheed and other speakers.
It also included live sessions of angioplasty and rotablator from catheterisation laboratory of PIC; and interactive learning amongst the participants of the conference.
The conference was attended by around 1200 participants including doctors, nursing staff, technologists from around the country and was equally appreciated by the international faculty and participants.
Summing up the views of the speakers, Joint secretary of PIC Heart Talk Dr Amir Bandesha told the media about how the heart disease has become a leading cause of death globally as well as in the Pakistani community. The major contributing factors of heart disease are hypertension, diabetes, smoking, obesity, sedentary life style which all need to be managed according to the latest guide line as presented by the speakers of the conference.
