Even as chairman of SC/ST Commission, Punjab, Rajesh Bagha on Thursday asked police to speed up investigation into the suicide case of PG resident Dr Supriya in the hostel room of DMCH, the hospital management passed a resolution asking the police commissioner and the district administration not to falsely implicate their senior doctors.

Dr Supriya had committed suicide on September 29 by hanging herself from the ceiling fan of the hostel room. Though she had not mentioned names of any doctors in her suicide note, her father alleged that doctors Puneet Punni and Deepak Bhatt used to harass her because of which she had hanged herself.

The police had formed a SIT and initially, an FIR was lodged against unknown persons. Later, the police lodged an FIR against doctors Punni and Bhatt under Section 304 (abetment to suicide) of the IPC.
