RSS meet begins in Lucknow today

BJP president Amit Shah and VHP working president Pravin Togadia reached Lucknow on Thursday.

The three-day annual meeting of the RSS Akhil Bharatiya Karyakari Mandal (All India Working Committee) will commence in Lucknow from Friday. This is the first time since its formation that the RSS will be holding its annual working committee meet in Lucknow.

Nearly 390 office bearers of various offshoots of the Sangh Parivar, including its political wing BJP, will attend the conclave and present their achievements. Sources said the BJP may raise the issue of crime against women and alleged appeasement of Muslims in UP as these issues will help them politically against the SP government in the state. The BJP won 71 Lok Sabha seats in the state and needs active support of the RSS to come to power in 2017.

Meanwhile, targeting the RSS meet, Samajwadi Party spokesperson Rajendra Choudhary said, “The meet is being held to give final shape to their design for disrupting communal harmony. Due to this they have kept issues like conversion by Christian missionaries and infiltration in their agenda.”

Sources said issues like “Love Jihad” and alleged conversion of Hindus to Islam could be raised at the meet. However, the RSS clarified that “Love Jihad” is not on the agenda.
