Huge support to Tulsi Gabbard in Dallas

IRVING, TX: A group of Indian American activists in Dallas headed by Dr. Prasad Thotakura and others, including Mrs. Subhashini and Dr. Subrahmanyam, M Murali Vennam and Gopal Ponangi organized a fundraising luncheon to support Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard at Pasand Indian Cuisine in Irving last week
In his welcome and introductory address, Dr. Thotakura urged everyone to support the youngest woman US Congress member, Tulsi Gabbard.

He pointed out that she had served in US military with great patriotic fervor, practices Hinduism since her childhood, always carries Bhagavad-Gita and is a strong voice of the Hindu community in Washington DC.

Community members extended huge financial support and applauded Tulsi for her firm stand on certain critical issues and a key role that she is playing in US Congress currently. The Fundraising luncheon was well attended by several Indian American leaders including Kalyan Viswanathan, Sanatana Dharma Foundation, Mrs. Kalpana Fruitwala, Mrs. Hema Mohan, Subrahmanyam , Ekal Vidyalaya, Prashant Patel, Anshul Agarwal and Mrs. Parul Agarwal, HSS, Mrs.

Sangeetha Chandrakanthan, Global Organization for Divinity, Dr. Rajiv Pandit, Hindu American Foundation, I V Rao, Global Hindu Heritage Foundation, Srinath Chakravarthy, Sanskrutha Bharathi, Chalapathi Rao Kondrakunta, Srikanth Polavarapu, Sanjay -Tanmayi Jewellers, Sanjay Anand, Sanjay Tiwari, Sunil Patel and several other members of the community at large.

In her response, Rep. Tulsi thanked everyone who attended and extended a lot of support and urged Indian American community to be proactive in mainstream politics especially youth to come forward to serve the community and country with a passion and dedication. She was presented with a beautiful bouquet of flowers, shawl and a beautiful wooden carving painting of Lord Krishna.

Gopal Ponangi thanked Pasand for providing sumptuous lunch and community for their generous support, He also thanked Rep.Tulsi who was on a two-day trip on the occasion of the grand unveiling of the Mahatma Gandhi statue in Irving, TX.

Tulsi attended a breakfast meeting wherein many local physicians talked on several topics related to healthcare, youth participation in politics and collaborative efforts of the Indian American community to have a unified voice and strength in the mainstream. She visited the newly built Hindu Temple of Greater Fort Worth where she was also present during the ground breaking ceremony two years ago.

She found time to go to the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Plaza in Irving. She paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi by offering a bouquet of flowers and standing for few minutes in silence with folded hands to the Global Leader.
